RWU University Magazine

A glimpse into campus life

The university magazine “Konzepte” reflects the diverse activities at RWU. In March 2020, it received a new design and took on additional significance: a magazine in response to the crisis.

A Window into Life Under Lockdown

When the editorial team set out with us to redesign its magazine “Konzepte,” no one could have imagined that COVID-19 would soon sweep the halls and corridors of the university empty. Yet university life hadn’t vanished with the pandemic; it had merely become nearly invisible. Thus, the first issue of “Konzepte” with its new look appeared in March 2020, just in time. Curtain up on a stage that puts the spotlight on the many activities at RWU. “Konzepte” documents what holds the campus community together. The editors also had a new idea for distributing the magazine. If people can’t come to campus, the magazine simply comes to them, free of charge.

“Liebe Leserinnen und Leser, Dear Readers”

With its newly designed magazine, the editorial team consistently addresses its readership in two languages. The exciting articles, interviews, and features are now not only visually appealing. They also convey the global orientation of RWU. This gives the regionally rooted university its special appeal as a brand. Students from all over the world describe how they—fortunately—found their way to Weingarten. The magazine covers research topics such as AI and care4care, which are currently being advanced at the university. It vividly demonstrates how vigorously the university fulfills its educational mission and how attractive it is to study there. We would add: and to collaborate with the university. We really enjoyed designing the magazine. Thank you very much, esteemed editorial team.

Face masks, infection rates, and vaccination strategies—words that played a minor role in our vocabulary in early 2020 now roll off our tongues as a matter of course—and leave us with mixed feelings. We are standing up to this—with confidence, success, and courage. The latest issue of the RWU university magazine shows what is possible despite these extraordinary circumstances.
